• How changes to the WDSCA Junior & Action Grade draw will be advised.
• How changes to previously advised venues will be advised.
• How cancellations of matches or all play in WDSCA Junior & Action Grades will be advised.

How Cancellations are advised

Cancellation notices are broadcast on “NewsTalkZB” 89.4FM or 1080 AM between 7:10 a.m. and 8:00 a.m on Saturday mornings. You need to listen carefully for:

• “All Western Districts School Children’s Cricket Association matches are cancelled”, or
• “Western Districts School Childrens Cricket Association matches at (Name of Ground) are cancelled”.

Cancellations are also posted on this page of the Western Districts Junior Cricket website as soon as a decision has been made – usually by 7:15 a.m. If you know of someone in your team cannot access the internet, make it your job to be their “Cancellation Buddy” and phone them if you know your match has been cancelled. Sometimes you will notice that when cricket has been cancelled, it lovely & fine by 9:00 a.m. and for the rest of the day. Unfortunately that is just bad luck. A decision to play or cancel when the weather is wet or doubtful has to be made early enough to get on the radio on time and before parents & players are on their way to their match venue. Sometimes, even when it not raining on Saturday morning, rain on Thursday or Friday will leave some grounds or pitches unplayable.

Late Changes to Draws

Late changes to either of the draws will be advised by the Draw Co-ordinator to the e-mail address held for each club or school. It will be the responsibility of the recipients (as advised to WDSCA at the start of a season) to pass any changes to affected teams / coaches. Changes will usually result from last minute unavailability of a ground as and when advised to us by Auckland Council. Occasionally changes may be made as the result of teams being unavailable for a scheduled match. Changes will also be posted on this page as soon as possible.
